October is my FAVORITE time of year. Everything about this month is exciting for me. I love the cooler weather, the changing leaves, and horror movies ALL the time. I live for Halloween! Another thing I enjoy is diving into all those spooky books that rest of my bookshelves. I am going to share some of my favorite horror, mystery, paranormal, and thrillers with you and I hope you'll check them out. I've included a small snippet of my review for each one. If you click the book covers, they link right to Amazon where you can grab your copy.
Devoured: An Escape from Reality Series Novella by Rena Marin Genre: Horror What started out as an ordinary camping trip quickly turns dark when a group of teenagers hits the quirky, wooded town of Escape, Colorado. Known for its hiking trails and legends about a shifting creature that lives in the woods, the teens never expected to come face to face with it. But that was then. This is now. It’s tall. It has razor-like teeth. Its tangled claws have a reach longer than its rectangular face. And confronted with a monster unlike anything the teens have ever read about, they have two choices: outsmart or be devoured… "All I could do was read faster and faster to see how all of this ended. Marin nails the ending with something completely unexpected."
Portraits in Flesh by M.W. Brown Genre: Psychological Thriller Annabelle has discovered she can instantly transport herself to the destination on her satnav. Although ghost like when she travels, her remarkable ability takes her from England to France, Croatia and beyond. As Annabelle explores her potential it puts her life and the lives of those she loves in danger and leads her into the path of an enigmatic and intelligent serial killer. What will he do if he discovers Annabelle's ability? Some places were never meant to be visited. "Her descriptive nature will take you on one wild ride! The twists will have you guessing, and the turns will leave you wanting more!"
Mosaic Monsters by Erin Lee Genre: Erotic Horror Jasmine
has been running to or from something for as long as she can remember. After the loss of her younger brother, she’s medicated her heartbreak through cutting and acting out with men—the only time she can really feel since his untimely death. Addicted to pain and the thrill of adventure, she bounces in and out of her family home, seeking answers she never seems to be able to find. Always testing. Always coming up short.
Henry
only hoped to save her the night he came upon a redheaded girl and her friends being assaulted by a monster. He never expected to find himself locked down, taking orders from the woman, whose freckles he has memorized, in order to save her. But it happened, and he can’t make sense of it. Nothing ever makes sense. Especially not his toxic connection to Jazz.
When the quirky couple decides to begin again with a new adventure, all bets are off. Together, they push each other’s limits, resulting in a horrific night with a stranger called Toy that changes everything… "I was literally stunned by the time I finished this. Lee brings a very dark, disturbing, but also fascinating experience with this book."
Karaoke Night by John Watson Genre: Horror Missing in rural Georgia for three days, travel blogger Brian Keane is found with no memory of his lost time. What he does have, though, is a digital recorder containing interviews with eleven people whom he does not remember talking to.
Each person tells the story behind their reason for singing their chosen song at Karaoke Night, with each tale a little more twisted than the one before. What becomes clear through these interviews is that the people of Redfield, Georgia are connected in ways they could never have imagined.
Brian Keane may have zero recollection of those lost three days, but through his transcripts, he stumbles upon the true story of one creepy little Georgia town and the Karaoke Night where the songs always remain the same. "The characters were portrayed well, they each brought their own personality to the table. The ending blew me away. Not what I was expecting at all and made it even more chilling!"
