Q & A with Tiffany Carby - Meet Cut(e) Possessed by Passion Box Set

I had the pleasure of doing a Q & A with Tiffany Carby about Meet Cut(e) which is her book in the Possessed by Passion box set that is releasing soon.

In your own words tell us a little about this book. Meet Cut(e) took me down a different path as a writer. I’ve always stuck with sweet, sometimes clean, sometimes steamy romance and this story brought out darker characters and situations than I’ve written in the past. It was an interesting adventure! What inspired the idea for your book? I wanted to write a character like the butcher without making him the stereotypical horror character that one might expect. So *spoiler alert* he’s going to surprise you! And not only is he nice to look at, he is smart AND he has a cat. What part of the book was the most fun to write? I always include little details that are fun...like Drake’s favorite coffee and his favorite flavor of snow cone. Drake’s name for his cat…things like that are fun. I also ended up splitting the story into a duet, and though it’s not a compete cliffhanger at the end of Meet Cut(e) because I didn’t want to be that mean, there is definitely more to their story in Cut(e) Meat (which is currently available for preorder, too). Can you tell us about some of the characters in your book? Any favorites? A lot of my female characters have a little of me in them and Aggie is no different. I have a journalism background, as does she, and we have similar tastes. I named a lot of these characters intentionally too. The farm names and the side characters are intentional Which character was most challenging to create? Why? The antagonists in the story were challenging! Because I typically write romance, the struggles are usually found in the relationships—and there will still be those struggles in Meet Cut(e)—this time I had to write “bad guys” and that was a fun challenge! How much research did you need to do for your book? I really researched the ins and outs of what it is like in real life to own and work in a butcher shop. I talked with so many people and picked the brains of professionals. I really wanted to get those details right and I hope I did! I made a lot of new friends in the process too!

Any challenges that you faced when writing this book? Let’s just say I had a lot to learn! I had no idea what I was getting into when I started and paused many times to figure out if I was on the right track! What makes this book special to you? The idea behind our boxset makes it special to me. For close to two years we’ve been planning and executing the sale of this set. Authors coming together with the same dream: hitting the USA Today Bestseller List. It’s been a long road and I’m thankful for having such amazing colleagues to share the set with. If you’re planning a sequel, can you share a tiny bit about your plans for it? A sequel is already on preorder, can you tell I’m a planner? There are a few loose ends from Meet Cut(e) that need to be tied up and a few more discoveries to be made in book two! Will Aggie and Drake end up together at the end? That’s a big question, dying to be answered! https://mybook.to/cutemeat If you had the chance to run a “Dear Aggie” column, would you? I totally would! When I was in college, which now seems like a hundred years ago, I did columns that asked readers to send in questions. It’s a fun way to interact and get advice Hazenburg sounds like a great little place. Is it inspired by an actual town? Kind of! I went to college in the small town of Williamsburg, Kentucky, and my fictional town of Hazenburg would sit on the map in the same area. I don’t think Williamsburg had a butcher shop though! Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share with readers? I am working on a book to be included in the Cocky Hero Club! It’s a contemporary romance and ties to the book Playboy Pilot by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. More on this will be coming in the next few months. I’m super excited! Your book Meet Cut(e) is just one of 20 + that is in the Possessed by Passion Box Set. What can you tell us about the boxset? It will only be available for a little while! And for the price, it might as well be free. I think the final count is 22 novellas/novels and almost 700K words. Even if I wasn’t in it, I’d buy it! I've preordered my copy and can't wait to read all of them! Thank you for taking the time to do this Q & A with me and good luck with the box set! Thank YOU for your time and your amazing support of indie authors!

About the Author

Author Tiffany Carby is a Kentucky native skilled in the art of storytelling. A journalist, columnist, and blogger who works in communications, she has a knack for narrative that keeps her story flowing.

Not all of her storytelling skills came from the classroom. Being born in Louisville and spending time in central and southeastern areas of the commonwealth, Carby developed a sharp ear for dialogue and an appreciation for the tales spun by friends and family from the South and Appalachia. As a Southerner, yes, she says "y'all," drinks sweet tea, and shares a love of college basketball with most of her fellow residents of the Bluegrass state.

Writing wasn't just a goal; it was a destiny for Carby. She wrote her first book while in the fifth grade--a story about an alien with a one-of-a-kind name, Orangepeachrumple. Though it didn't circulate farther than her parents, she was hooked. Though publishing many non-fiction works over the years, She's a Tiger Lily was the debut of her fiction work and beginning of her Company of Griffins series. Since then she has added another growing series called Mint Condition.

Carby resides near Lexington, Kentucky, with her husband, curly-headed moppet of a daughter, and two cats (only one of whom actually likes her). Stay up to date with the latest on Tiffany's work. | Amazon | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram|
