Review - Lockdown by Rena Marin

Book Details: Lockdown By Rena Marin #HorrorSuspense Published: August 2nd, 2020 Print Length: 175 pages With the entire world facing a pandemic, Diana Peterson and her daughter Brooke decide to leave the city and ride out the stay at home order at their vacation home on the lake. Life is quieter there. More secluded. Safer. Or at least they thought it was. An incoming storm system immediately sends the mother and daughter into lockdown mode.

While preparing for the storm, a stranger finds his way to the door. His request? A place for him and his friends to shelter from the weather rolling in. With her daughter’s health and safety in mind, Diana refuses, leaving them to fend for themselves. But some people don’t take no for an answer.

As the rain, wind, and thunder rolls outside, the strangers from across the lake think they have the advantage, but they have forgotten one important rule of nature. A mother will do anything to protect her child.

Lockdown is Rena Marin's latest release. It touches on some real life issues and what one family deals with during the pandemic. As the cover states it's not always safer at home. Marin delivers yet another incredible book. This was edge of my seat reading! What starts off as a calm story quickly turns dark and brutal when a group of strangers show up. They are a very persistent bunch with some evil plans that get disrupted by Diana Peterson. Diana decides to take matters into her own hands with Dave and his crew. What unfolds is crazy! Diana Peterson was an amazing character in this book. A no nonsense woman that would stop at nothing to protect her daughter. She would question her actions throughout but in the end, she did what she had to do. The saying "A mother will do anything to protect her child" definitely emerges in this book. Dave is a character you will love to hate. He is such a vile being! He adds a major creep factor to this book as well as the rest of his gang. If you enjoy strong female characters, a realistic storyline, and some intense reading I recommend you give this one a read. Marin does not disappoint with the twists and darkness in this book.
